Springboks release 4 more players from Camp in Bloemfontein | News Article

The Springboks have released four players from their team building and training camp in Bloemfontein.

The Springboks gathered in Bloemfontein on Sunday as a 36 man squad for their final training and team building camp before heading to Japan for the 2019 IRB Rugby World Cup. The team travelled to Bloemfontein on Sunday, following their 24-18 over Argentina in Pretoria this past weekend. 

The team building and training camp is a four day camp based in Bloemfontein, where after Boks coach, Rassie Erasmus, will announce his 31 man World Cup Squad, with that announcement taking place on Monday August 26 at 15H00. 

With that being said, the Springboks have released four players from their camp to reduce the numbers from 36 to 32. The Players who were released were released back to the Currie Cup teams and are in the form of Lizo Gqoboka, Thomas du Toit, Marvin Orie and Andre Esterhuizen. The Players will return to their respective Currie Cup teams ahead of the final round of pool matches in the Currie Cup.

 Although not officially confirmed by SA Rugby, it is believed that these four players will be on standby for Springboks World Cup Squad, but will not be featured in the 31 man squad Erasmus is set to name on Monday afternoon. 

Once in Japan as a 31 man World Cup Squad, The Springboks will face Japan in a final warm up match on September 06 with the match kicking off at 12H15.
