The Toyota Cheetahs will target a first-ever win over the Irish giants, Munster, when the teams lock-horns in the Guinness PRO14 on Friday evening.

The Cheetahs will enter the match with a lot of confidence following a 48-14 win over the Glasgow Warriors and Saturday’s outstanding 63-26 drubbing of Ulster.

While Munster are also unbeaten after two rounds, they weren’t overly impressive against the Southern Kings with a 31-20 victory.

The Cheetahs captain, Ruan Pienaar, told OFM Sport that while they enjoyed win over Ulster, there is still a long season lying ahead.

“It is hard not to be happy if you score 60 or more points in a game,” said the 88-time capped Springbok scrumhalf.

Pienaar, who represented Ulster in 141 matches during his stay in Belfast, warns that one or two swallows do not make a summer.

“This team of ours is chasing very high standards, and while the scoreboard showed we played well, there are definitely things we can work on. It is only the second game, and while it is going well, it is important to remember what we need to work on.

“We have a tough game waiting for us against Munster, which will be followed by a challenging tour. It is important to work on the standards we have set for ourselves and build consistency.”

The match will be the last in charge for Franco Smith before Hawies Fourie takes over as head coach. Fourie, who had medical issues is finally well and reported for duty at the team last week.

Friday’s evening match at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein will kick-off at 18:15.
