Specman officially signs at the Cheetahs─── MORGAN PIEK 10:09 Wed, 10 Jun 2020
The Springbok Sevens stalwart, Rosko Specman, has officially signed a two-year contract at the Toyota Cheetahs.
Specman played for the Cheetahs in 2017 and represented the team in seven Currie Cup and four Guinness PRO14 games before joining the Bulls
The speedster is an Olympic medallist after clinching the bronze with South Africa at the rugby sevens during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The 31-year-old Specman told OFM Sport that he is grateful to the re-join the team where he made a lasting impression in no time at all.
“I’m very excited to be heading back to Bloemfontein, but more than that I’m grateful to coach Hawies Fourie for recognizing and believing in my potential.
“I’m confident that I can add to the strength that already exists in the team and look forward to working with all the talented players and dedicated staff at the Cheetahs”
In his turn, the coach, Hawies Fourie, told OFM Sport that he is delighted to have secured the signature on the player who he considers to be an x-factor player and great team player.
“It’s a great signing for us. Rosko also wanted to play sevens and there was another offer for him, but they didn’t want him to allow him to play for the Blitzboks was well.
“We made came to an understanding that he will be made available for the Olympics if he is chosen for that squad. He will also be available for the Dubai and Cape Town Sevens.
“I am very happy to have him our squad. It will just strengthen our back-three and the competition for a place in the starting line-up will be fierce. That is what I want. We want quality players in our squad and we want competition among the players in the squad. He will add a lot of spice to the competition.
“He is a great team player, has a very good work rate, and has the x-factor that we all like and need.
“We are looking forward to having Specman join us in November.”
Specman will start his second tenure at the Cheetahs on 1 November.
