Mohoje extends his stay at the Cheetahs─── MORGAN PIEK 09:01 Mon, 29 Jun 2020
The Toyota Cheetahs flanker, Oupa Mohoje, has become the latest player to recommit to the team. The Springbok loose-forward's future at the team was uncertain after his contract at the franchise expired at the end of May.
Mohoje will remain at the Cheetahs for at least another year after extending his contract by another 12 months.
Mohoje hasn’t played any rugby since September 2018 after injuring his knee just 18 minutes into the Cheetahs Guinness PRO14 season in a game against the Munster at Thomond Park in Limerick.
It comes as welcome news for the Cheetahs, especially seeing that several star backrowers have left the team and will be departing. These include the likes of Henco Venter (Sharks) and Jasper Wiese (undisclosed team).
On top of that, the hard grafting Gerhard Olivier recently announced his retirement from the sport after suffering a neck injury against the Dragons in Wales, during what was the Cheetahs last game before rugby was suspended.
Mohoje couldn’t be reached for comment.
