Fourie has high hopes for Mohoje─── MORGAN PIEK 08:44 Wed, 01 Jul 2020
The Toyota Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, has high hopes for the Springbok flanker, Oupa Mohoje, for the upcoming season.
Mohoje has had his fair share of injury woes over the past two years after sustaining a serious knee injury against Munster during the Cheetahs' opening game of the 2018/19 Guinness PRO14 season.
Recently Mohoje extended his contract at the Cheetahs by another 12 months.
The 29-year-old has been working hard on his fitness during the lockdown, and Fourie told OFM Sport that he is confident that Mohoje will be back at his best.
“He is training really well and he has lost about 5kgs in the last two months.
“He has improved his fitness quite a bit and I am optimistic about Oupa.
“Returning to the team on the field when we get back to playing at the end of August or September, I am pretty sure that he will be back at his best and able to contribute to the team.”
Mohoje in his turn said that he cannot wait to get back onto the park.
“It is a privilege and honour for me to stay at the Cheetahs and I can’t wait to play my first game. As they say, home is where the heart is.”
Mohoje’s contract extension runs until 31 May 2021.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that the winger, Rabz Maxwane, will be leaving the Cheetahs to further his carry at the Lions in Johannesburg.
Maxwane was the leading try-scorer in the PRO14 during the 2018/19 season, however, due to a dip in form, he enjoyed very limited game time the following season.
