The Toyota Cheetahs eighth-man, Jasper Wiese, will remain committed to the team up until his last day on 31 October.

The fiery loose-forward will be leaving the team to link up with the Leicester Tigers in England. His brother, Cobus, who plays for the Stormers is also heading to England but will play for the Sale Sharks.

The Irish outfit, Connacht, also expressed interest in the services of the powerful Cheetahs ball-carrier.

Wiese told OFM Sport that he enjoyed his stay in Bloemfontein, but he looks forward to joining the English club with a very rich history.

“It's a new and exciting challenge, and Leicester has a rich history.

“But until I am gone all my focus will be at the Cheetahs. I have already told all of the coaches and some of the players that.

“When the times comes to leave my focus will shift to my new team.

“It is new and exciting but the English is going to be a bit of a battle, but hopefully we will make it work.

“I've had a good run at the Cheetahs and I've had many opportunities here. I just thought that it is the right time for a new challenge for me as a person and as a player as well.

“I appreciate everything the Cheetahs has done for me, but for now all my focus will remain with them."

The former Pumas and Bulls loose-forward, Jeandré Rudolph, will be Wiese’s replacement at the Cheetahs.
