Cheetahs to focus on attack and defence detail─── MORGAN PIEK 08:45 Tue, 11 Aug 2020
The Toyota Cheetahs are still waiting for the green light to resume contact training after the government approved SA Rugby’s plans to proceed with matches.
Contact is a major issue for teams after they have not played for going on five months.
The Cheetahs will, however, be training with bigger squads and focus on the attack and defence in detail.
The Cheetahs assistant, Charl Strydom, told OFM Sport that they may be able to start contact training next week.
“Monday was attack, and Tuesday is going to be defence, and paying attention to the detail we want in that.
“Hopefully we will get the go-ahead on Friday so that we will be able to train as a bigger group next week, and also to have contact training involved.”
The first or second week of September still appears to be the likely date for the 2020 Currie Cup to get underway, but there are issues, such as affordability of the so-called bio-bubbles.
