All systems go for contact training─── MORGAN PIEK 09:57 Wed, 02 Sep 2020
SA Rugby has confirmed that all seven franchises that will be playing later this year, may officially start with their contact training.
This comes as all the teams completed a final round of Covid-19 testing ahead of the training in order to start playing again for the first time since March.
Toyota Cheetahs centre, William Small-Smith, told OFM Sport that they will start taking some contact as of Monday.
“Our preparation for the Currie Cup has really been going well.
“We have been preparing as if the Currie Cup is going to a bit earlier in September.
“Coach Hawies Fourie took the decision to give us off this week just to give the bodies some rest and to ensure that we don't run out of steam at the latter part of the tournament.
“We have a bit of a break and will be coming back on Monday to start preparing as good as we can for the Currie Cup.”
An announcement on the proposed competition structure for the rest of the season will be made as soon as all the details have been finalised.
