It will be lekker - Maartens─── MORGAN PIEK 14:12 Wed, 16 Sep 2020
The former Toyota Free State Cheetahs flanker, Daniel Maartens, is itching to debut for his new team when the Currie Cup gets underway.
The former University of the Free State Shimlas Varsity Cup star has traded Bloemfontein for his native Nelspruit, where he is now at the Pumas.
Maartens has been at the team for quite some time, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic is yet to play for the Pumas.
Maartens told OFM Sport that he would welcome making his debut against his former team.
“We also heard that the first game may be against the Cheetahs, and I think that it will be very nice.
“I don’t think I will need to go and prove anything or do something that I am not used to.
“As you said, I will get to play against my old teammates. I spent six years there at the Free State, so it will be lekker, and it will be especially nice to go and play in Bloemfontein.”
The Currie Cup is expected to start on 10 October with the Cheetahs hosting the Pumas.
SA Rugby is yet to confirm the fixtures for the domestic competition.
