On Saturday Luan de Bruin, Junior Pokomela, Frans Steyn, Rosko Specman and Malcolm Jaer played in the Springbok Showdown at Newlands.

Jaer is in doubt after he injured his knee during the clash in the Mother City.

The rest of the team played to 31-21 victory against the Griquas, and the captain, Ruan Pienaar, told OFM Sport that game a good eye-opener for them.

“Once again we made a lot of mistakes and that was disappointing.

“We spoke about being clinical and executing what we wanted to do going into this week.

“I guess for us it was a nice eye-opener, but there is still work to do.

“This coming week it will be vital for us to prepare well for what will be a good Pumas team coming to Bloemfontein.”

In the previous warm-up game between the Cheetahs and Griquas, the men from Bloemfontein beat the Peacock Blues 40-7 at Tafel Lager Park in Bloemfontein.

Saturday’s eagerly-anticipated clash at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 16:30.
