On Saturday, Frans Steyn made his long-awaited debut for the Cheetahs at inside centre. On the other side of Schoeman is the scrumhalf and captain, Ruan Pienaar.

Steyn made a big impression in the Cheetahs midfield during their 53-31 victory over the Pumas in round one of Super Rugby Unlocked.

Schoeman told OFM Sport that it makes his job a lot easier having Pienaar and Steyn on either side of him.

“It’s awesome, there is some really good experience on either side of me and they both really just keep me flat on the game.

“Frans is a big boy, so he makes it easy to play rugby next to him. If I am trouble I know I can just give the ball to him and he gets us going forward.”

On Friday evening at 19:00 the Cheetahs tackle the Bulls at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
