The Tafel Lager Griquas will approach this week as any other, with the team scheduled to travel to Johannesburg to face the Lions in round four of SuperRugby Unlocked.

On Saturday, the Lions match against the Toyota Cheetahs was called off at the 11th hour due to more positive Covid-19 cases in the Lions team.

There is a fear that the Peacock Blues match may also suffer the same fate.

Griquas coach, Scott Mathie, told OFM Sport that for now it is still business as usual.

“It would be the best for everyone.

“The biggest concern for us is obviously the cost. We will have to pay hotels and travel fees that we will incur.

“We would like to minimise that damage if the game is not going to be on.

“We will be in conversations with the Lions to check out the situation.

“Otherwise, we are preparing fully for the game. We are assuming that the game is still on unless otherwise indicated.”

The Griquas enjoyed a bye over the past weekend, and a second week without a game will see the team taking a step backward as opposed to forward.

The Lions are Griquas are set to face each at 19:00 on Friday evening at Ellis Park.
