Knights want to wrap it up quickly on day four─── MORGAN PIEK 06:55 Thu, 05 Nov 2020
The VKB Knights need just three wickets on Thursday to win the CSA 4-Day match against the Warriors being played in Bloemfontein.
The Knights set the Warriors a second innings target of 366 runs to win the match, but at the stumps, the visitors from the Eastern Cape were on 173/7.
The debutant for the Knights, Migael Pretorius, was the chief destroyer with the ball with 3/25 in 14 overs. Mbulelo Budaza, Shaun von Berg, Alfred Mothoa and Jacques Snyman each claimed a wicket as well.
The Knights captain, Pite van Biljon, told OFM Sport that day three didn’t go exactly according to plan, but they are happy with the position they are in and would like to wrap things up as soon as possible due to the rainy weather which has moved in.
“The game didn’t go exactly the way we wanted it to on day three, but on the first two days, it did.
“We can’t complain because we’re still in a very good position. We probably didn’t bat as well as we would have liked, but we still had enough runs to declare when we wanted. We were pretty happy with the timing of the declaration.
“We need three wickets on the last day, and there is a bit of weather around. If the guys just stick to their skills and we can control our lengths that wicket is starting to misbehave a little bit. There is still some good pace, so it could be a good day for us.
“We are not taking anything for granted. In the past, we had tail-enders score a lot of runs there against us. So, we will try to stick to our game and obviously try and wrap it up as soon as possible, but we would taking anything for granted.”
The Warriors resume their second innings at 10:00 this morning, and need 193 runs for the wicket, with just the three wickets in hand.
