Seven South Africans to tee it up at the Masters─── MORGAN PIEK 15:57 Mon, 09 Nov 2020
One of the biggest weeks in golf is finally here with the 2020 Masters at the Augusta National in Georgia teeing off on Thursday.
The Masters will officially be the last major of the year, while it's normally the first of the big four to be played.
As has become the norm in 2020 with most sporting events, no spectators will be in attendance at what is arguably one of the most special courses in the world.
This year, South Africa will be represented by the two former champions, Trevor Immelman and Charl Schwartzel, as well as Christian Bezuidenhout, Dylan Frittelli, Justin Harding, Louis Oosthuizen and Erik van Rooyen.
Oosthuizen is South Africa’s number one ranked golfer and former British Open champion. Oosthuizen also has an impressive record of having finished as the runner-up at the Masters (2012), PGA Championship (2017), and U.S. Open (2015). One feels that it is only a matter of time before he adds another major title to his record.
Erik van Rooyen could be seen as a dark horse to do really well this week while Frittelli had a good run on the PGA Tour earlier in the season before testing positive for Covid-19.
