Pretorius wants to face Steyn─── MORGAN PIEK 14:40 Wed, 11 Nov 2020
The Stormers centre, Rikus Pretorius, is hoping that the Springbok and Toyota Cheetahs midfielder, Frans Steyn, will be declared fit for Saturday’s SuperRugby Locked game in Cape Town.
Steyn is still nursing a groin injury and a call on his availability will be made tomorrow morning.
The 21-year-old Pretorius will be the direct opposition to Steyn if the latter gets the green-light to play, however, they have never played against each other.
The former Grey College school captain, Pretorius, says Steyn has always been a player he has looked up to.
“He was also in Grey College. He name was on my board in the change room, so he is a guy that I’ve always looked up to.
“For me to play against Frans is going to be a big challenge. That is the game that you want to play in, because if you want to become a Springbok who have to be able to compete against the best.
“For me it will be a big challenge if he gets to play.”
Steyn will be receiving treatment for his injury until Wednesday, and a final call on his availability will only be made on Thursday morning.
Both teams will be named tomorrow and Saturday’s match at Newlands kicks off at 19:00.
