The Stormers expect the Toyota Cheetahs to come at them hard when they face each other on Saturday evening during round six of the SuperRugby Unlocked series.

The game at Newlands in Cape Town will be the last them that two teams get to face each other at the famous and historic ground in the Southern suburbs of the Mother City.

This is unless the two teams face each other in the final of the Currie Cup in January next year.

After missing out against the Lions and a bye week, the Cheetahs looked like a team that hadn’t played rugby is quite some time, and this was visible with the 16 penalties they conceded against the Sharks in Durban last week. This led to the Cheetahs losing 19-13 at Kings’ Park.

Stormers coach, John Dobson, told OFM Sport that the Cheetahs will be much better this week and they remain a very dangerous team.

“There were a few massive game-drivers of theirs that didn't play last week. Some aren't going to come back. The big guys would have been Walt Steenkamp, Jasper Wiese, Frans Steyn, Ruan Pienaar and Benhard Janse van Rensburg.

“Those are really big guys in that team. They're obviously rebuilding will all the changes and the contracting period at the end of October.

“What we do know about them having played them over the year is that they never go away and they always fight.

“The other thing is that they are obviously fighting for a much bigger cause than just the competition now.

“It's the existence of the union, and that makes them dangerous.

“A desperate team is always dangerous. We're under no illusions. It's going to be a hell of a hard game.

“They will be better for having played together last week.”

Saturday evenings game at the Grand Old Lady of South African rugby kicks off at 19:00.
