The Toyota Cheetahs have confirmed a positive Covid-19 case in their camp ahead of this weekend’s SuperRugby Unlocked derby against the Tafel Griquas.

The player, who has not been named, has been removed from the camp and placed into self-isolation.

The case has not put this weekend’s game in Bloemfontein in jeopardy.

It’s not the first case in the camp after one of the new signings in the team tested positive some four months ago, while the Springbok flanker, Oupa Mohoje, missed out of the Green vs. Gold match at Newlands at the beginning of October.

Covid-19 has already had a telling effect on the tournament with serval matches having being called off or postponed. This includes the Lions game against the Cheetahs at Ellis Park in round three. The Lions match against the Pumas last week was also postponed, while this coming weekend’s game between the Sharks and Stormers at Kings’ Park has been called off.

This week's game between the Bulls and Pumas has been postponed by a day and will now take place at 14:00 on Saturday afternoon instead of Friday evening.

The Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, will be naming his team for the derby at 13:15 this afternoon, and Saturday's game at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 16:30.
