Griquas geared for set-piece battle─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Thu, 26 Nov 2020
The Tafel Lager Griquas are targeting an 80 minute performance on Saturday when they tackle the Golden Lions in their opening match of the Currie Cup.
Both teams are under pressure following their performances in the recently concluded Super Rugby Unlocked campaign.
The last time these two met the Lions beat the Peacock Blues 61-31 at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Griquas coach, Scott Mathie, told OFM Sport that he expects a tough battle at the set-piece.
“We’ve got to take what we did against the Sharks in our last game at home and really bring that intensity and effort. It's vital for this game.
“We know it's going to be a really tough set-pieces battle. They have a solid scrum which has arguably been one of the best in the competition.
“It's going to be a tough game, but it's important that we make Kimberley a tough place to come to.”
Saturday afternoon’s game at Tafel Lager Park in Kimberley kicks off at 16:30.
