For now, the former Junior Springbok has a short-term deal that will run until the end of October.

There is, however, an opportunity to earn an extension of the contract.

While still very young for a front-rower, Tshakweni, made waves back in 2018 when he selected to make his Guinness PRO14 debut for the Southern Kings at the tender age of 20.

Tshakweni told OFM Sport that he is keen to slot next week.

“I’m super keen and super excited to be heading there to the Cheetahs. It’s such a huge club with a lot of history.

“I’m just really keen to get there, get cracking and play some rugby.

“We don’t know what the future holds for the Cheetahs right now. Everyone is still waiting, but I’m just keen. Whatever competition it is, I’m just ready to play rugby and give my all again.

“I just want to show myself to the players, coaches and the Cheetahs fans. I just want to show that this is me and this is what I can do.

“I just can’t wait to get there.”

The Cheetahs begin with their preseason for the Franchise Cup next. SA Rugby could be making an announcement regarding the competition on Thursday.
