The Springbok lock, Marvin Orie, will not be joining the Toyota Cheetahs, despite being offered a good contact by the central franchise.
The second-rower, who recently opted not to renew his contract at the Lions was linked with the move to either the Cheetahs or the Stormers.
It is reported that he turned down the sizeable offer made by Hawies Fourie and he has chosen the Mother City over the City of Roses.
With Siya Kolisi having signed with the Sharks on Wednesday it freed up the budget for John Dobson to contract a player of Orie's calibre.
Orie told OFM Sport that he will only comment on his future once an announcement has been made.
“I grew up a Stormers supporter and I am looking forward to growing further as a player in Cape Town surrounded by quality players and working with a top management team.
The Stormers and Cheetahs are set to lock-horns on 28 February at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town.
