Steyn, who made his Springbok debut against the Lions back in 2009, is on the Boks' radar for the series, and he is set to be one of a very few players to play against the team from the home nations twice.

The only play set to join the elite club is the Toyota Cheetahs inside centre, Frans Steyn.

Steyn, who will be 37 years old by the time of the 1st Test, says while he is still playing, he still wants to add to his 69 previous Tests.

“It's something that a person hasn't bargained on, especially because I played my last Test in 2016.

“It's already five years later and I can perhaps still play a Test, and as you said, maybe against the British & Irish Lions for a second time.

“There are very few people that can say they've achieved that in their rugby career.”

Jacques Nienaber is expected to announce his Bok squad next month.
