The battle for the runners-up position in the Premier Soccer League is heating up with just a few games and single round left in the 2020/21 season.

Last night the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates, gave themselves an outstanding chance of finishing in second with a 1-0 win over AmaZulu, thanks a 76th minute Gabadinho Mhango strike.

For Usuthu it was their second defeat on the bouche following 13 unbeaten matches.

The Buccaneers coach, Josef Zinnbauer said that it was a big win for them.

“Ja, I said before the game the result is important, not the performance, I have to say the performance was very well.

“In the first half we dominate the game, we lead the game, we have I don't know two chances to score, it's not easy against AmaZulu, they have a good quality in the team.

“They play very well in the front and in the defence, it's not easy to find the solution but we have in the first-half the chance.

“In the second-half, today it was the set-piece that gave us the win and this is important for us. The result is important for us today, we come close now to the second or third place and this is important for us.”

In this weekend's only games, Swallows host Mamelodi Sundowns tomorrow and on Sunday TS Galaxy are at home to Pirates.
