Stumble now and be ready for the Currie Cup - Thomson─── MORGAN PIEK 08:44 Thu, 03 Jun 2021
The Toyota Cheetahs will look to set the record straight on Saturday when they welcome the EP Elephants to Bloemfontein for a Currie Cup warm-up.
Last week the Cheetahs stumbled in their hit-out in Bloemfontein, but the positives are that their new flyhalf, Brandon Thomson, got to play a full 80 for the first time in more than a year.
Thomson told OFM Sport that they didn’t rock up for the game, but rather now.
“They showed up on the day and unfortunately they wanted it more than us.
“The results didn’t really go our way, but were learned a couple of important lessons.
“It’s important to stumble now and be ready for the Currie Cup, instead of the other way round.
“We will definitely take the lessons learned and then hopefully improve on that.”
The Cheetahs were meant to tackle the Leopards in Potchefstroom this weekend, but it was called off due to the positive Covid-19 cases in the camp of the team from the North West.
Saturday’s game at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 12:00.
