The Springboks Sevens team looked well settled as they ran in five tries to the two by the Irish.

Zain Davids, Impi Visser, Justin Geduld, Chris Dry and Stedman Gans all dotted down for South Africa, while Branco du Preez was successful with four conversions.

The Blitzboks captain, Siviwe Soyizwapi, says the win was reward for the positive attitude shown by the team in trying times.

“It's a reward for all the diligence, the perseverance and just the guys not giving up and staying positive through all our challenges and obstacles.

“To have this first win the perseverance first game going according to plan, I really think it is something that is a reward to us.”

The Blitzboks will be back in action again on Monday when they tackle Kenya in their second Group C fixture. This game will kick off at 12:00.
