The Blitzboks opened the scoring through Selvyn Davids before Gaston Revol was red carded less than a minute later for dangerous tackle on the playmaker.

Davids was forced to leave the park with a bloody nose and did not return.

Marcus Moneta scored a brace of tries to give Argentina a 14-7 lead at the break, while Santiago Alverez scored the winner for Argentina with two minutes left on the clock.

Numerous penalties led to Argentina retaining possession in the second stanza and this didn't allow South Africa to create scoring opportunities.

Despite a penalty try and a yellow card to Argentina, South Africa didn't have enough time to clinch a win.
