It's been so near to perfect - Brits─── MORGAN PIEK 08:50 Fri, 06 Aug 2021
The Toyota Cheetahs will look to return to winning ways when they tackle Western Province in Cape Town on Saturday in the Currie Cup.
The Cheetahs are still at the bottom of the log in the competition with just two wins to date.
The last time the Cheetahs ran out against Province, they won 38-21 in Bloemfontein, but a few days later they lost 47-30 to the Sharks.
The Cheetahs centre, David Brits, who previously had a junior contract at Province, told OFM Sport that they look forward to the outing.
“This weekend it's going to be another big one. Playing against Province at Newlands is always quite special and I think that everyone is looking forward to it.
“There has been quite a lot of pressure in terms of performance and getting those wins under the belt.
“All we can really do is focus on what we need to do going forward and what we take out of the games we've already played and hopefully implement that throughout the rest of the campaign.”
The former University of Stellenbosch Maties star and captain, who scored his first Cheetahs try in the previous match against Province, added that his move to Bloemfontein has been near perfect.
“My journey this side and the move and everything has gone extremely smoothly, I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
“I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity. I'm absolutely stoked that I’ve gotten the opportunity to play a few games here and there.
“It's been a really special time and it's been very overwhelming. I've a lot of fun so far and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way, to be honest. It's been so near to perfect.”
