South Africa is ready - Nienaber─── MORGAN PIEK 07:41 Mon, 23 Aug 2021
The Springbok still have no clarity on the way forward in the Rugby Championship following the first two rounds of the competition.
The Boks are meant to head to Australasia in order to tackle the Wallabies and All Blacks, however, with the growing Covid-19 pandemic in Australia and New Zealand there is a lot of uncertainty.
The Pumas of Argentina are also currently in limbo as they were meant to be on the same flight as the Boks to Australia.
Springbok coach, Jacques Nienaber, says that they would be more than happy to host the remainder of the tournament in South Africa, but they are prepared for any scenario.
“It would be good for our country. We just came through a British and Irish Lions series.
“South Africa showed that in a pandemic they can host a tournament that is the next biggest thing to a World Cup.
“South Africa is ready. We’ve got the protocols in place and we’ve got everything lined up.
“But we’ll play anywhere we have to. We’ve got six scenarios ready and when the decision is made we’ll put it into action.”
The Boks are scheduled to face the Wallabies on 12 September in Sydney.
