The Tafel Lager Griquas centre, Jonathan Francke, is set to play in his 100th game for the team this weekend when they tackle the Sharks in Durban in the semi-finals of the Currie Cup.

The Griquas are in the semi-final for the second time in three years while the end goal is a first Currie Cup title in 51 years.

The 35-year-old Francke has also represented the Boland Cavaliers on 55 occasions before moving to Kimberley.

The Griquas assistant, Albert van den Berg, told OFM Sport that it will be a big game for Francke and the team.

“It's something that he is looking forward to.

“He is a student of the game, he has worked hard, he has played a lot of games for us and he is good in that position.

“The fact that it’s his 100th game is just something that adds a little to it being a semi-final.

“Besides that, nothing else will change for us. It's a semi-final for everyone.

“It's the cherry on the cake for him play in his 100th game for us, but for everyone else it's a semi-final and it's going to be a big game.”

Saturday’s semi-final at Kings’ Park kicks off at 17:00.
