Hendrikse fractured his ankle during the 36-13 defeat at Parc Y Scarlets in the United Rugby Championships and he will be side-lined for at least three months.

Ironically, Jordan sustained the fate as his older brother, Jaden Hendrikse. In Augusts the Sharks scrumhalf fractured his ankle thanks to a cheap shot by the Argentine utility forward, Marcos Kremer, during his Test debut against the Pumas in Gqeberha.

This brought a premature end to his debut and he also missed out on the Rugby Championship tour to Australia that concluded on Saturday.

The Lions confirmed that the exciting for Junior Springbok flyhalf fractured his ankle and he will be returning home.

“Lions flyhalf Jordan Hendrikse fractured his right ankle during the Lions' second round match against Scarlets in the United Rugby Championship.

“Hendrikse will be traveling back to South Africa for possible surgery.

“The young playmaker is expected to be out of action for at least three months.”

The Lions travelled to Scotland this week where they will be up against the 6th placed Glasgow Warriors on Saturday afternoon at the Scotstoun Stadium.

Kick-off for this match is at 16:05.
