The renowned commentator and voice of South African rugby, Hugh Bladen, is recovering after suffering a mild stroke.

The former then Transvaal (Lions) flyhalf SA Sport Media Hall of Fame inductee is said to be recovering well and could possibly return home to recover within this week.

OFM Sport has it on good authority that he is talking and in good spirit.

The 76-year-old Bladen has been a sport commentator in South Africa since 1976 when television began in the country. Up until 1994 her worked for the SABC before switching over to SuperSport.

Over the year, he has covered Currie Cup, Super Rugby, PRO Rugby, and Springbok rugby, and travelled the globe covering Tests featuring the national side.

Bladen hasn’t featured on-air for the last couple of years.

Earlier this year the former Springbok lock and commentator, Kobus Wiese, suffered a heart attack and has since then made a recovery. Wiese also plied his trade as a player for Transvaal and still played for them when they became known as the Golden Lions.
