Griquas set for 11 new players─── MORGAN PIEK 15:19 Wed, 13 Oct 2021
The Tafel Lager Griquas are set to unveil up to eleven new players at the beginning of November as they continue their preseason ahead of the Currie Cup.
The Currie Cup semi-finalist saw quite a lot of players leaving the union, while they also welcomed their new coach in the form of Pieter Bergh.
One of the players that will report for duty in Kimberley is the Tuks captain, Sango Xamlashe, while the former Maties winger Munier Hartzenberg will also be joining.
Bergh in his turn began his second spell at the Griquas last week, and he told OFM Sport that he looks forward to the arrival of his new signings.
“There was a lot players that left the Griquas at the end of the Currie Cup this year.
“Currently we are working with about 22 players on the field, then are about six or seven injuries.
“There will be 11 new players joining us from the 1 November.
“I'm looking forward to these players joining us. Most will be from the Varsity Cup and some from other unions. I can't wait to start working with them and to get to know them better.”
All indications are that the double-round Currie Cup will kick-off on 15 January 2022.
