Pienaar could play against Cheetahs in Challenge Cup─── MORGAN PIEK 07:40 Mon, 25 Oct 2021
The Toyota Cheetahs captain, Ruan Pienaar, will not be available for the team during the upcoming Toyota Challenge that will be played in Bloemfontein.
The 88-time capped Springbok is on loan at the Sharks, while his fellow Cheetahs scrumhalf, Tian Meyer, is back in Bloemfontein.
The tournament will see the Cheetahs tackle the Stormers XV, Sharks, Diables Barcelona of Spain, and Baia Mare of Romania.
The Cheetahs' coach, Hawies Fourie, told OFM Sport that Pienaar and Junior Pokomela could play against them.
They will be available for the team they have been on loan to. So, Junior Pokomela will be available for the Stormers and Ruan Pienaar will be available for the Sharks.
Tian Meyer is back with us and we have heard from the Sharks yet if they want to extend the loan agreement with him. The loan agreement with him ended the past weekend.
Meanwhile, the Springbok winger, Rosko Specman, will only be available for the Cheetahs for two of the four matches. Fourie further explained that the Blitzboks stalwart is still on loan with the Stormers but could play against the team from the Mother City.
We have an agreement with Western Province or the Stormers that they are going to take him on loan for games that we don't play in the Currie Cup on the same weekend of the same week. Then he will be on loan to them.
The agreement was that he has to play two games for us in the Toyota Challenge Cup, so that will be against the Stormers on the 13th and against the Sharks on the 20th.
The first game will kick off at 17:30 on Saturday, 13 November, when the Cheetahs tackle the Stormers at the Toyota Stadium.
