The Eagles will also get to play in front of fans again for the first time since 2019, while the players themselves will not have to endure bio-bubble life again. Unless things change with the Covid-19 situation in the country.

Eagles coach, André Pretorius, told OFM Sport that they are eager to play at home again.

“This time last year we were unsure if there would be a Varsity Cup or not, and it’s nice to know that we are heading in some sort of direction.

“It also seems like it’s not going to be in a bubble as well, which means that we are getting a couple of spectators.

We are really excited to get to play the opener against UCT and it will be great to the players to actually experience the Fanie (Fanie du Toit Stadium). It won’t be to its max, but it’s going to be better than playing in front on an empty stadium.”

Round one of the Varsity Cup kicks off on 14 February.
