Farrell ruled out for Springbok Test─── MORGAN PIEK 08:20 Tue, 16 Nov 2021
England has been dealt a major blow ahead of Saturday's Test against the Springboks in London. Their chances of getting revenge against the Boks took a knock with the news that their captain, Owen Farrell, has been ruled out with an ankle injury.
They will also have to make do without the services of the hooker, Jamie George, who strained his knee against the Wallabies.
The Gloucester duo of Harry Elrington and Jack Singleton have been called up.
"Owen Farrell (ankle) and Jamie George (knee) have withdrawn from the squad with injuries sustained during England's 32-15 win over Australia last Saturday," English rugby said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the prop, Joe Marler, will link up with the team again on Friday following his 10-days of isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, English coach, Eddie Jones, said the 2019 Rugby World Cup final against the Springboks is still in the back of their minds.
They are a different team now, we're a different team. They're the World Cup champions and we are not.
It's going to be an important Test between two very good teams.
It's the final game of the autumn and it's a final.
If we're going to take them on, we are going to have to play a little bit differently against them.
Saturday’s Test at Twickenham kicks off at 17:15.
