Erasmus and SA Rugby to appeal─── MORGAN PIEK 07:12 Thu, 18 Nov 2021
The Springbok Director of Rugby, Rassie Erasmus, has been banned from all rugby related activities from two months and from all match-day activities for a year by World Rugby.
The global governing body of the sport imposed the sanction on the former Springbok captain after we was found guilty on all six changes brought against him.
This is in relation to the 62-minute-long video that surfaced in which he pointed out the mistakes made by referee Nic White during the first Test against the British & Irish Lions in July.
SA Rugby in their turn were fined close to R420 000.
SA Rugby and Erasmus indicated that they will be appealing the sanction and fine.
“SA Rugby and Rassie Erasmus have noted the decision of World Rugby’s judicial committee.
“Both parties confirmed they will exercise their rights to appeal the verdicts.
“Neither party will make any further comment until the process is complete.”
Erasmus is currently with the Springboks in London for Saturday’s third and final Test of their End of Year Tour.
