The CEO of SA Rugby, Jurie Roux, has been ordered to repay R37 million following his failed appeal, as well as that of a former colleague.

Between 2002 and 2010, while holding senior positions at the University of Stellenbosch Finance Department, Roux was accused of manipulating the electronic accounting system to channel millions in unbudgeted expenditure to the Maties rugby club.

Roux failed in his bid to have the guilty verdict in the cases overturned.

The Arbitration Appeal Tribunal Panel this week dismissed appeals by Roux and Chris de Beer.

The panel ruled that Roux has to repay R37 116 402 plus interest from the date of summons, while De Beer must repay R1 904 511.
