Ulster impressed by Vermeulen─── MORGAN PIEK 16:00 Tue, 14 Dec 2021
The seasoned Springbok loose-forward, Duane Vermeulen, has made an impression at his new team, Ulster, in a very short time.
The World Cup winners’ highly anticipated debut was however put on ice as he tested positive for Covid-19.
The former Cheetah had just one training session with the team before making his debut last week in the 29-23 win over Clermont in round one of the Champions Cup.
The Ulster skipper, Alan O'Connor, said Vermeulen impressed them with his professionalism.
“It was great, he’s obviously an awesome player.
“It was class to have him on board.
“Fair play to him, he didn’t have a lot of training time but he gelled in pretty well and he was a calm influence on the pitch, which was class.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how he gets on and looking forward to playing with him.”
Ulster is set to face the Northampton Saints on Friday evening during round two.
