The Sharks coach, Sean Everitt, has backed the Springbok, Makazole Mapimpi, as the best left-wing in world rugby at this point in time.

On the weekend, Mapimpi, scored a hat-trick of tries during the Sharks 47-37 win over the Lions in Johannesburg in the United Rugby Championship.

The 32-year-old former Cheetah has already scored 20 tries for the Springboks in just 25 Tests.

Everitt said it’s great to be able to rely on players such as Mapimpi and Lukhanyo Am.

“Those guys are the best in the world in their positions and if you look at Mapimpi, he's the best left-wing in the world.

“We talk about Cheslin Kolbe, but every time Mapimpi plays, he manages to get over the chalk, whether it be in international rugby or domestic rugby.

“Lukhanyo Am has been absolutely superb and probably among the best 13 in the world and it's just been great that they can perform like that for their franchise.

“It shows that they're proud of their franchise and they want to pay back because at times, you get players who perform at a higher level, but don't do so for their franchise.”

This week the Sharks will host the Stormers at Kings’ Park, while the Lions are at home to the Bulls at Ellis Park.
