The Tafel Lager Griquas take confidence from the fact that their inside centre, Zander du Plessis, has an accurate and reliable boot, especially before their Currie Cup clash against Western Province in Kimberley on Friday evening.
The young midfielder who is equally, if not more confident as a flyhalf has proven in the Currie Cup thus far that he is deadly accurate with the boot, both off the tee and out of hand.
During the 41-20 win over the Pumas, the product of Grey College in Bloemfontein, Du Plessis, showcased his distance with a 63m penalty.
Griquas captain, Niel Otto, said Du Plessis makes their job a lot easier.
“It was amazing, especially for us as a forward pack. You always what to be going forward.
“To have a kicker like him just always kicking into the right areas of the field and penalties from his own half, gives us a lot of confidence as forward and energy.
“It's great to know that when he is kicking, we will be going forward.
This evening’s game between the Griquas and Western Province at Tafel Lager Park kicks off at 19:00.
