The Toyota Cheetahs will tread lightly for the wounded Lions on Saturday when these two teams clash in Bloemfontein in the Currie Cup.

The Lions are currently at the bottom-of-the-log with three defeats in their first three matches.

On the positive end of the table, the Cheetahs are unbeaten after their three games are currently in second.

The Cheetahs are one point shy of the log-leading Sharks.

The Cheetahs lock, Aidon Davis, told OFM Sport that they will have to be switched on for the game.

“It's been a while since we played at home and think all the boys are really keen for the game.

The Lion still a very dangerous side although they have been struggling in the Currie Cup.

“In the game against the Sharks you could see that they can still put up a fight and score some good tries, so there is still some threat from them.

“We are looking forward to the challenge and as I said, it's a home game and we always want to perform well at home.”

David added that he is enjoying his new role in the team in the absence of the injured Rynier Bernardo.

“I'm really enjoying playing at the lock for the Free State now. It allows me to be more involved with the lineouts and I get to carry the ball a bit more in the middle of the field, so I'm enjoying the role.”

The coach, Hawies Fourie, recently indicated that the loan player from the Sharks, Ockie Barnard, could be named on the bench for Saturday’s game against the Lions in Bloemfontein.

Saturday’s game at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 17:00.
