The former Lions front-rower is one of several new signings made by the Cheetahs over the past few days.

The 30-year-old was on a short-term contract at the Cheetahs last year before taking up an offer to play Major League Rugby in the USA.

Van Wyk told OFM Sport that he looks forward to his return.

“It's been such an amazing journey here is the States”, said the front-rower from San Diego.

“The weather has been awesome - the rugby has been awesome to be quite honest.

“We are only halfway through our season so there are a couple more games to go and I'm looking forward to that.

“I definitely learnt and seen a lot of stuff in America, but I'm looking forward to the next stint in the City of Roses.”

The Cheetahs have also signed Friedle Olivier from Enisei-STM in Russia and he can cover a loose-forward or lock.

Meanwhile, the Namibian international hooker, Chucky van der Westhuizen, as well as the two loose-forwards, Jeandré Rudolph and Gideon van der Merwe, both extended their contracts.

The lock, Victor Sekekete, will also be extending his stay at the Cheetahs.
