The Leinster coach, Leo Cullen, is not in favour of the final of the United Rugby Championship being played in South Africa.

Pro Rugby has been following the European standard of naming a destination final for the competition, however, the venue has not been announced yet.

There are reports doing the rounds that the final could be hosted in South Africa in order to grow the competition.

Cullen, whose Leinster are at the top of the standings, said for now a final in South Africa would not a good idea at this stage.

“It's going to be hard to sell a final, for example in Cardiff where the last destination final was meant to be held, if you've got the Stormers and Sharks playing in the final.

“For the South African public, I think it would be fair if it's held here if they are the ones to make the final.

“That would be my view until you've got the URC really established. From a supporter’s point of view, the distance is really a problem.

“The competition also needs to settle itself before discussions of a neutral venue. You have to earn your right, for a final, in my opinion.”

The Sharks will host Leinster on Saturday at Kings’ Park with kick-off at 18:15.
