The flanker was one of the star performers for the University of the Free State Shimlas in the 2022 Varsity Cup and played a large role in helping the team to the semi-finals.

The live-wire loose-forward impressed enough in the Varsity Cup to be named as the forward of the tournament.

Ndimande told OFM Sport that he looks forward to the challenge and to become a professional rugby player is a dream come true.

“I’m over the moon thanks for asking,” said the exciting player.

“I’m really more than excited to join the Griquas, it’s a big stepping stone, certainly a dream come true.

“I’m definitely looking forward to it.”

Meanwhile, the Griquas regular captain and loose-forward, Ruan Steenkamp, is back in training following a long-term knee injury, and he told OFM Sport that he will be playing again soon, but he is not ready for this weeks Currie Cup derby against the Toyota Cheetahs.

“I'm not going to be playing at this stage - the injury too a bit longer than we hoped for.

“At least I'm running again and hopefully in the next two weeks I will start joining the team.

“Hopefully I will be able to be fit and ready to catch a last match or two in the Currie Cup.

“I'm still not in for the derby against the Cheetahs on the weekend.”

On Saturday at 14:30 the Griquas tackle the Cheetahs in Kimberley in an important Currie Cup game.
