The Currie Cup final between the Griquas and the Pumas in Kimberley is close to being sold out. This comes after Covid-19 restrictions were dropped – allowing stadiums to fill up to capacity.

This is something that has excited the Griquas players, and no doubt their opponents will also welcome playing in front of a capacity crowd.

The last time these two teams met in a final was in 2018 during the SuperSport Rugby Challenge final played in Oudtshoorn when the Pumas edged the Peacock Blues 32-30.

The Griquas lock, Cameron Lindsay, who played for the Pumas on that day told OFM Sport that tomorrow will be special.

“I think it's great that the two so-called smaller unions have made the final,” said the former Matie.

“Obviously, I was at the Pumas so I would know that it would mean for them to have got to this stage.

“For the Griquas it's massive to host the final in Kimberley and the road we've taken to get here has been very special.

“To have the home final for the people of Kimberley and the team is just great.

“It's going to be very special day for me because my family is coming and I think it would be the same for a lot of other people.

“With the crowds being back it's going to be fantastic to play in front of a sold-out crowd. So, we are really looking forward to that and a good day.”

Saturday’s big final in Kimberley kicks off at 15:00.
