Wales expect a strong Springbok side for the decider

Wales will be expecting the Springboks to come at them all-guns blazing on Saturday when they meet in the third and decisive Test in Cape Town.

Wales recorded an historic win in Bloemfontein on Saturday when they beat the Springboks 13-12.

Before the Test in Bloemfontein the Welsh had never been able to record a victory against the Springboks in South Africa. They have, however, won a Test in South Africa before, but that was during the 1995 Rugby World Cup.

That was a 57-10 win over Japan in a Pool C game in Bloemfontein.

The Boks in their turn won the first Test at Loftus Versfeld 32-29 in a game that was also decided in the last minute.

The Welsh coach, Wayne Pivac, has warned that they can expect the Springboks to field their strongest available team.

“I thought there were some South African players today that did very well and put us under a lot of pressure. A bit like ourselves last week – did enough to win a Test match but didn’t quite get there.

“It will be an interesting selection but it will be the strongest South African team because it’ll be a decider and both teams have entered into this to win a series.

“We’re just pleased that we got across the line but we go to Cape Town with that opportunity.”

Saturday’s third and final Test at the Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 17:05.
