The Springboks will want to make a step-up in the discipline for this week third and decisive Test against Wales in Cape Town.

Last week the Boks suffered a 13-12 defeat to Wales in Bloemfontein after being in the driving seat for the majority of the Test.

In Pretoria it was the Welsh who suffered a last-minute defeat due ill-discipline.

The Springboks have responded by selecting what they believe if their strongest available squad.

Springbok coach, Jacques Nienaber, conceded that the Test in Bloemfontein was a disaster.

“It’s always about results - even losing last weekend was a disaster for us,” said Nienaber during the team announcement.

“We selected the team because we thought they could beat Wales and for 78 minutes we did. I thought our discipline let us down. We were probably comfortable leading 12-3 with 15 minutes to go.

“Ill-discipline gave Wales and opportunity to get back into our half and then gave them the opportunity to get points. The resulted in us being put under pressure.

“We felt we could beat Wales with the team we selected. It was a disaster last week. We selected 42 guys and we had a plan, because we thought these 42 guys would have the ability to beat Wales. “Our plan was to beat them within the first two Tests while also having the opportunity to give everyone a run.

“It wasn’t that we wanted to play guys in the second game and almost throw the Test match because we don’t think we can win. We thought we can beat them in Bloemfontein.”

Saturday’s series deciding Test at the Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 17:05.
