Fozzy is the man for the job - Mo'unga─── MORGAN PIEK 14:01 Wed, 27 Jul 2022
The All Blacks flyhalf, Richie Mo'unga, has continued to back the under-fire coach, Ian Foster, ahead of their tour to South Africa to face the Springboks in the Rugby Championship.
Following their 2-1 series defeat to Ireland in New Zealand, there were calls for the axing of Foster, with many of the belief that former Crusaders coach, Scott Robinson, deserves a crack at international rugby.
Mo'unga said that Foster’s new hands-on approach will make a difference.
“We’re looking forward to the opportunity to right a few wrongs and to be better because we know we’re capable. We need to make a statement about who we are as All Blacks.
“Fozzy is the man for the job, 100 percent big Fozzy,” he said.
“I think now he’ll have a more hands-on role with the backs and with the attack.
“I’ve had that taste early on in my All Blacks career (when Foster was an assistant) and I was able to gain so much knowledge and had ‘wow’ moments out in the field when he was coaching.
“It’s good to see that happen again the last couple of days.”
The Springboks and All Blacks face each other next Saturday at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
