The All Blacks are expecting another aerial bombardment from the Springboks again during Saturday’s Rugby Championship Test in Johannesburg.

Last week the Springboks deployed the tactic to great effect during their 26-10 win in Nelspruit.

The tactic did come at a cost with the try-scorer Kurt-Lee Arendse receiving a four-match suspension for playing Beauden Barrett in the air. The All Blacks pivot landed badly on his head and neck and was lucky to not sustain a serious injury.

Barrett – who is back in training after having to leave the field on Saturday - feels that nothing will change for this week’s Test on the Highveld.

“They have intentions to get up but find themselves running into the person, which happened at the weekend. As escorters, the players in front of me are doing their best to protect me, but it's not always the case.

“It's high-speed, split-second stuff which can be quite dangerous. I was lucky on that occasion and was lucky at the weekend.

“It's something that we expected from South Africa in terms of the high-ball collision and contest - I don't think that they will change anything.

“They will look to make it a real contest and a fifty-fifty. We will continue to be courageous and get up. Under the current rules, the escorters will have to do a job within the rules to legally stop that chaser from running a good line and allowing that mid-air collision.”

Saturday’s Test between the Springboks and All Blacks at Ellis Park kicks off at 17:05.

Springboks - 15 Damian Willemse, 14 Jesse Kriel, 13 Lukhanyo Am, 12 Damian de Allende, 11 Makazole Mapimpi, 10 Handré Pollard, 9 Jaden Hendrikse, 8 Duane Vermeulen, 7 Pieter-Steph du Toit, 6 Siya Kolisi, 5 Lood de Jager, 4 Eben Etzebeth, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Joseph Dweba, 1 Ox Nché.

Replacements - 16 Malcolm Marx, 17 Steven Kitshoff, 18 Vincent Koch, 19 Franco Mostert, 20 Jasper Wiese, 21 Kwagga Smith, 22 Herschel Jantjies, 23 Willie le Roux.
