Mafura previously played at the Cheetahs before a successful still at the Pumas, while Janse van Rensburg is also a former Puma, but joined from Rugby ATL in the USA.

Janse van Rensburg told OFM Sport that it was good be back in training again.

“It was a good day - it's good to be back after several months of not playing or training rugby,” said the former Maties front-rower.

“The first one back it always tough, but it was a good one. It was also good seeing some familiar and old faces. Everyone made me feel really welcome and enough was very warming and helpful.

“Everyone was just keen to sort me out at the Cheetahs.

“Looking forward to the rest of the block of the preseason going into the Toyota Challenge.

“Playing under coach Hawies Fourie and the coaching staff again will be great. They've got a really good setup here and I'm just looking forward to it.”

The Cheetahs are busy preparing for the upcoming Toyota Challenge and European Challenge Cup.
