The Springbok women head into the game in the Mother City as the underdogs as they will tackle the second ranked team in the Sevens World Series.

The recent success of the Springbok Women’s 15’s has inspired the team, while several of those players will be in action tonight.

The captain, Sizophila Solontsi, said they welcome the underdogs tag and are just excited to get going.

“I am definitely feeling it, especially since we are at home and it being such a large group compared to the World Series or any other event.

“It doesn't get bigger than this. Playing at home does give us an advantage. France are No 2 in the World Series and they don't know us.

“We don't know them either. So, playing at home is an advantage. We are the underdogs, we've got nothing to lose, so we are ready for them.”

At 18:35 on Friday evening the Springbok Women will face France, while the Blitzboks tackle Chile at 19:03.
